Mercado Bitcoin Dogecoin review: DOGE for reais, via Pix

Mercado Bitcoin runs a native DOGE-BRL market with a R$0.90 minimum, funded by Pix. Its fees and Banco Central status could not be confirmed on official pages, and this review is upfront about that.

CEX.IO serves Brazil through an offshore entity without Banco Central authorisation, and foreign platforms face a BCB deadline in late 2026. Check the status before signing up.

Mercado Bitcoin Dogecoin verdict in brief

For Brazilians, the “mercado bitcoin dogecoin” question is simple: can I buy DOGE directly with reais, and what does it cost? Yes, you can. On 14 October 2026 Mercado Bitcoin’s public API listed DOGE-BRL as live and trading around the clock, with a last price of R$0.411 and a minimum order of just R$0.90. What it costs is harder to say, because Mercado Bitcoin’s fee page refused our requests, and the figures circulating on review sites disagree.

We score it 7.0 out of 10. It is the most natural local route to DOGE for anyone who pays by Pix, and we found no hacks on its record. It loses points because we could not verify its fees from an official source, because its status under Brazil’s new Banco Central regime is not public, and because its DOGE book is thin next to global exchanges. Our Dogecoin exchange reviews put it side by side with eleven other platforms.

Who is Mercado Bitcoin

Mercado Bitcoin (often shortened to MB) is a São Paulo-based crypto exchange and one of the best-known names in Brazilian crypto. Secondary sources describe it as part of a wider group, commonly reported as 2TM or the MB group, and date its founding to 2013. We could not confirm either the founding year or the exact legal entity on MB’s own website, which blocked automated access during our research, so treat those details as reported rather than verified.

What we could verify is the product that matters here: a native order book that pairs Dogecoin directly with the Brazilian real. That sets it apart from global apps that make you buy USDT first and swap later. Brazil is a big crypto market (Chainalysis ranked it #5 in its 2025 Global Crypto Adoption Index), but DOGE trading in reais is modest. On the day we checked, all CoinGecko-tracked DOGE/BRL markets together turned over only about $120,000 in 24 hours.

Is Mercado Bitcoin regulated? The BCB rules

Brazil’s crypto law, Law 14.478/2022, made the Banco Central do Brasil (BCB) the supervisor of virtual-asset service providers. The detailed rules arrived in BCB Resolutions 519, 520 and 521, which have been in force since 2 February 2026. Under them, firms already operating must apply for authorisation as an SPSAV (a virtual-asset service company). The filing window for existing firms closes around 30 October 2026, and from 6 November 2026 banks and payment institutions may not deal with unauthorised providers.

Approval itself can take a while. Resolution 548/2026, as reported by Brazilian financial press, gives the BCB up to three years to decide applications from firms that were already operating. Here is the gap: we found no public statement from the BCB or from Mercado Bitcoin about MB’s own application or authorisation. So the fair description is that Mercado Bitcoin is operating under the BCB transition regime. The DOGE-BRL market on Mercado Bitcoin

Mercado Bitcoin’s DOGE market is a straightforward real-denominated book. The API flags it as both listed and traded, available 24/7, and on 14 October 2026 it showed a last price of R$0.411 and about 149,938 DOGE of volume in 24 hours. At the day’s dollar price of roughly $0.0815, that is around $12,000 of trading, so the book is real but small. Binance’s DOGEBRL market was the largest real-denominated DOGE book on CoinGecko that day, at about $83,000.

Why does that matter? On a thin book, a large market order can move through several price levels and cost you more than the headline fee. For typical retail amounts this is not a big problem, but for larger purchases a limit order is the safer choice. The widget at the top of this page shows a live DOGE price in reais. MB’s last trade may differ slightly from that aggregate.

How to buy dogecoin on Mercado Bitcoin with Pix

Here is how to buy DOGE on Mercado Bitcoin from start to finish. Pix is Brazil’s dominant instant-payment system, and it is the natural way to fund the account. Our guide to paying for Dogecoin by card, Pix and other methods compares Pix with card purchases.

  1. Sign up and verify

Register in the Mercado Bitcoin app or site with your CPF and complete identity checks. Brazilian exchanges must know their customers before accepting money.

  2. Deposit reais by Pix

Pick Pix on the deposit screen and pay from a bank account in your own name. Read the fee and limit shown there, as we could not confirm them on MB’s own pages.

  3. Open DOGE-BRL

Search for DOGE. The DOGE-BRL market trades 24/7. Look at the gap between the best buy and sell prices before ordering.

  4. Place your order

A limit order controls the price and usually counts as maker. The minimum order value is just R$0.90, so a tiny test buy is possible.

  5. Withdraw to your own wallet

For DOGE you plan to keep, withdraw on the native Dogecoin network to an address starting with D. Check the fee on the confirmation screen and send a small test first.

The R$0.90 minimum is one of the lowest we have seen anywhere, which makes Mercado Bitcoin friendly for a first, tiny purchase. If you are new to crypto, our step-by-step guide to buying Dogecoin explains each stage, and our Dogecoin wallet guide helps you choose where to keep your coins. Native DOGE addresses start with a D; never send to an address meant for a token on another chain.

Mercado Bitcoin fees, deposits and withdrawals

This is the weakest part of the review, and we would rather say so plainly. Mercado Bitcoin’s official page for fees and limits returned an access error on 14 October 2026. The numbers below come from third-party sites, they do not agree with each other, and we have not verified any of them. The only figure in the table confirmed by Mercado Bitcoin’s own systems is the minimum order.

To show what the spread of estimates means: on a R$1,000 market buy, a 0.70% taker fee would cost R$7, while 1.5% would cost R$15. Whichever is right, a limit order is likely to be cheaper. The DOGE withdrawal fee and minimum fields in MB’s API were empty, so the confirmation screen in the app is your only reliable source. Our Dogecoin calculator converts reais to DOGE so you can check what a purchase should give you.

Security and track record

Our research found no reported hack at Mercado Bitcoin. That is a good sign for a platform that has been around for years, but the absence of a news story is not proof of perfect security, and we did not assess whether it publishes proof of reserves. As with any exchange, you are trusting the company with custody while your DOGE sits on the platform.

The regulatory transition adds a small extra layer of uncertainty. If a platform does not obtain authorisation in time, the bank-ban rule from 6 November 2026 could make Pix deposits and withdrawals harder. We have no information that this will affect Mercado Bitcoin, but it is a good reason not to leave large balances on any Brazilian exchange this autumn. Withdraw what you plan to hold.

Mercado Bitcoin pros, cons and our score

👍 What we like

  • Native DOGE-BRL order book, open 24/7
  • Very low R$0.90 minimum order
  • Pix funding widely reported
  • Long-running Brazilian brand
  • No hack found in our research

👀 What to watch

  • Fees not verifiable on the official page
  • BCB authorisation status not public
  • Thin DOGE-BRL volume next to global venues
  • DOGE withdrawal fee and minimum not published

We weight regulation at 30%, DOGE fiat access and liquidity at 20%, fees and transparency at 20%, security record at 20% and DOGE features at 10%. Mercado Bitcoin scores well on fiat access (a native BRL book and Pix) and on security (no known incident). It loses ground on transparency, because we could not read its fees, and on regulation, because its BCB status is not public. Thin DOGE volume also trims the liquidity score.

Our take

7.0 / 10. For DOGE in reais, Mercado Bitcoin is the most convenient local choice we checked. Treat the fee figures online as rough guides, read the fee in the app, use limit orders and move long-term holdings to your own wallet. Much Pix, very simple.

Alternatives to Mercado Bitcoin and who it suits

Several other venues ran DOGE/BRL markets on 14 October 2026. We checked them through each exchange’s public API; volume comes from CoinGecko or, for MB, its own API.

NovaDAXClosed in Brazil—Do not use

NovaDAX closed its Brazilian operations between June and October 2026, so it is not an option. CEX.IO, a long-running global exchange, is open to Brazilian residents through its Nevis entity, CEX OVRS LLC, but it has no BRL pair and no Pix, so you would buy by card in dollars or euros. It is not authorised by the BCB, and the foreign-provider deadlines around 30 October and 6 November 2026 could affect it; its plans are not public. Check availability before signing up.

Mercado Bitcoin suits Brazilian residents who want to buy modest amounts of DOGE with Pix, like a local app in Portuguese, and are comfortable checking fees in the app rather than on a public page. Larger traders may get tighter prices on the bigger Binance DOGEBRL book. What are Mercado Bitcoin’s fees?+

Mercado Bitcoin’s official fee page blocked our access on 14 October 2026, so we could not verify its fees. Third-party comparisons quote about 0.30% maker and 0.70% taker, and one quotes taker fees of 0.7–1.5%. Check the fee shown in the app before you confirm.

Can I deposit with Pix on Mercado Bitcoin?+

Pix deposits are widely reported, and third-party reviews describe them as free, but we could not confirm the details on Mercado Bitcoin’s own site during our research. The deposit screen in the app shows the current options and any fee.

Is Mercado Bitcoin authorised by the Banco Central?+

Brazil’s new crypto rules took effect on 2 February 2026, and existing providers must apply to the Banco Central for authorisation. We found no public statement on Mercado Bitcoin’s own application or approval, so we describe it as operating under the BCB transition regime.

Is Dogecoin taxed in Brazil?+

If your total crypto sales stay at or below R$35,000 in a month, gains are exempt. Above that, gains are taxed at 15–22.5% and paid by DARF the following month. A proposal for a flat 17.5% rate (MP 1.303/2025) lapsed in October 2025.
