How to buy Dogecoin in Spain with a licensed app

To buy Dogecoin in Spain, pick a CNMV- or MiCA-authorised platform such as Bit2Me, fund it by SEPA, and keep records for the savings-income tax. Bizum is not a confirmed option yet.

CEX.IO no longer onboards new EU/EEA users (existing accounts are withdrawal-only) while its MiCA application is pending. EU readers should use the MiCA-licensed local options covered on this page.

Quick answer: buy Dogecoin in Spain step by step

If you want to buy Dogecoin in Spain, the safest route runs through a platform authorised under MiCA, the EU crypto regulation. Spain’s own champion is Bit2Me, which became the first Spanish fintech to obtain a MiCA licence from the CNMV on 31 October 2025 and lists a DOGE/EUR market. Revolut, Bitpanda, Bitvavo, Kraken and Bitstamp also sell DOGE to Spanish residents through EU passports.

The process is the familiar one: verify your identity, send euros by SEPA, buy DOGE, then decide whether to keep it on the platform or move it to your own wallet. The Spanish twists are a two-regulator history (Banco de España, then the CNMV), a tiered tax on gains that also catches crypto swaps, and the fact that Bizum, the payment app almost everyone here uses, is not a confirmed way to fund an exchange. Our general guide to buying Dogecoin covers the basics without the local layer.

Searching “dogecoin precio euro”? On 14 October 2026 DOGE traded around €0.073 on Bitpanda and Kraken. That is a snapshot; the widget above is live, and the Dogecoin price page explains the data behind it.

Buying and holding DOGE is legal in Spain. Supervision of the firms that serve you changed with MiCA. Before it, crypto exchanges registered with the Banco de España for anti-money-laundering purposes. That register stopped accepting new entries when MiCA began to apply; it still exists for checking legacy registrations, according to the law firm Cuatrecasas. Today the CNMV, Spain’s securities regulator, is the national competent authority that authorises crypto-asset service providers.

A Banco de España registration on its own is no longer enough to serve Spanish retail clients. What counts now is an entry in ESMA’s MiCA register, either with the CNMV as home regulator or with Spain in the passport list.

Spain’s MiCA timeline, from transition to today

Spain chose the longest transition the regulation allowed: 18 months, per ESMA’s list of grandfathering periods. That kept older firms in business until 1 July 2026, much longer than in Finland or Sweden. The key dates:

  1. MiCA applies

CASP rules start across the EU; Spain’s 18-month transition begins.

  2. Bit2Me authorised

Bitcoinforme S.L. gets its CNMV authorisation, passported EEA-wide.

  3. CaixaBank joins

One of several Spanish banks now in the register, after BBVA in March 2025.

  4. Transition ends

Only authorised CASPs may serve Spanish retail clients.

  5. Register snapshot

ESMA’s file lists 15 CASPs with Spain as home state.

Those 15 Spanish-home providers are an unusual mix. Alongside Bit2Me and Criptan (authorised 26 June 2026) sit mainstream banks: BBVA, Openbank, Cecabank, Renta 4, Kutxabank and CaixaBank. Being authorised does not mean a bank sells DOGE, though, and our research did not confirm a Dogecoin offer at any of these banks.

Bit2Me is the local favourite and one of the three busiest euro markets for DOGE on CoinGecko, behind Bitvavo and Kraken. Its weak point is fee transparency: we could not find an official fee schedule, and secondary sources report about 0.95% plus spread on simple buys and a monthly inactivity fee. Our Bit2Me review lays out what is confirmed and what is not. If you want an order book with published costs, the Bitvavo review is the natural comparison; for a broker-style app, see the Bitpanda review.

Revolut is the other name many Spanish readers already have on their phones. Its Spanish and Catalan pages show a DOGE/EUR price and a buy-Dogecoin flow, and its crypto arm, Revolut Digital Assets (Europe) Ltd, holds a CySEC authorisation from 20 October 2025 that is passported to Spain. Convenience is the draw: if your salary already lands in Revolut, there is no transfer to wait for. The trade-off is that a banking app is not built for active trading, so compare its price with an exchange order book before a larger buy.

The buying flow, Spanish edition

Whichever platform you choose, the flow is short. Register, verify your identity with your DNI, NIE or passport, and declare your tax residence. Send euros by SEPA from your Spanish bank; a SEPA Instant transfer usually lands within seconds if your bank supports it. On Bit2Me’s simple wallet screen you then choose Dogecoin and an amount in euros; on its Pro platform, or on Bitvavo and Kraken, you can place a limit order instead. Finally, download the confirmation. Spain taxes every swap and sale, so a tidy history saves hours when the Renta campaign opens.

SEPA, cards and the Bizum question

SEPA transfers are the backbone of Spanish crypto funding. Bit2Me’s SEPA deposits are free according to secondary sources, and most other platforms do not charge for SEPA either. Cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay are faster but cost more; secondary sources put Bit2Me’s card fee at 1.99% for EU cards. Our guide to buying DOGE with a card compares those costs.

Dogecoin tax in Spain: savings base, swaps and Modelo 721

The Tax Agency’s IRPF 2025 manual treats gains from selling crypto for money as capital gains that go into the savings tax base, the base imponible del ahorro, under article 46.b of the IRPF law. The same applies to swaps: trading DOGE for another coin is a taxable disposal, not a neutral exchange as in Austria.

Savings tax scale, common territory, 2025–2026
Savings income bandRate
Up to €6,00019%
€6,000 to €50,00021%
€50,000 to €200,00023%
€200,000 to €300,00027%
Over €300,00030%

The scale is progressive, so each slice is taxed at its own rate. A €10,000 DOGE gain pays 19% on the first €6,000 and 21% on the remaining €4,000. The 30% band above €300,000 came with a 2025 reform, per Fieldfisher. Navarra and the Basque Country apply their own scales. For cost basis, secondary sources point to FIFO, based on a Directorate General of Taxes ruling (V1604-18).

Two filing points. The Renta 2025 campaign ran from 8 April to 30 June 2026, so gains realised this year go into next spring’s return. And Modelo 721 is an information return for crypto held abroad worth more than €50,000 on 31 December; if your DOGE sits with a foreign custodian and your foreign crypto passes that line, ask an adviser whether you must file. This page is a summary, not tax advice.

CEX.IO in Spain: the Madrid twist

CEX.IO, a long-running exchange founded in 2013, has a Spanish link: its EU company, CEX.IO EUROPE, S.L., is registered in Madrid, and its MiCA application sits with the CNMV. The company describes that application as under review. Until it is decided, CEX.IO is not in ESMA’s register and does not onboard new EU or EEA users, per its EU terms dated 1 July 2026. Existing accounts can withdraw balances and manage settings, but cannot deposit or trade. We will update this page if the CNMV grants authorisation; in the meantime, compare the licensed options in our exchange reviews.

Local tips for Spanish DOGE buyers

Crypto ATMs exist in Spain: Kurant runs a network of about 300 sites across Austria, Germany and Spain, with a Spanish company in Palma de Mallorca. Whether any of them sells DOGE could not be confirmed, so do not count on it, and expect higher fees than in an app.

When you move DOGE to self-custody, use the native Dogecoin network and an address starting with D; our Dogecoin wallet guide explains the options. Keep every trade confirmation, including swaps, because each one is a taxable event. And when you want euros back, the guide to selling Dogecoin walks through withdrawals.

Our take

Spain is well served: a home-grown MiCA exchange with a liquid DOGE/EUR book, plus every major EU platform. The friction is on the tax side, where swaps count and the scale climbs to 30%. Keep records from day one.

Comparing countries? Italy’s rules are on our Dogecoin in Italy page, and Germany’s one-year tax-free rule is on the Germany guide. The full country list covers all 17 markets.

Questions people ask

How much tax do I pay on Dogecoin gains in Spain?+

DOGE gains are savings income. In the common territory the 2025–2026 savings scale is 19% up to 6,000 euros, 21% up to 50,000, 23% up to 200,000, 27% up to 300,000 and 30% above that. Navarra and the Basque Country use their own scales.

Is swapping DOGE for another crypto taxable in Spain?+

Yes. The Tax Agency’s IRPF manual treats crypto-to-crypto swaps, as well as sales for euros, as capital gains or losses that go into the savings tax base.

Do I need to file Modelo 721 for Dogecoin?+

Modelo 721 is an information return for crypto held abroad worth more than 50,000 euros on 31 December. If your DOGE sits with a foreign custodian and your foreign crypto passes that threshold, check with the Tax Agency or an adviser.

Can I buy Dogecoin with Bizum?+

We could not confirm any exchange that accepts Bizum for euro deposits. Bit2Me Pay is a crypto-to-crypto transfer feature, not a Bizum deposit. Use SEPA, which Bit2Me offers free according to secondary sources.

Which Spanish platform is licensed to sell DOGE?+

Bit2Me (Bitcoinforme S.L.) received a CNMV MiCA authorisation on 31 October 2025, passported across the EEA, and lists a DOGE/EUR market. Bitpanda, Bitvavo, Kraken, Bitstamp and Revolut also serve Spain under MiCA passports.

Can I sign up to CEX.IO in Spain?+

No. Although CEX.IO’s EU company is based in Madrid, it is not onboarding new EU or EEA users while its CNMV application is under review. Existing accounts are withdrawal-only.
