Quick answer: buy Dogecoin in Sweden in two taps
Sweden makes buying crypto feel like paying for a coffee. If you want to buy Dogecoin in Sweden, the most local route is Safello: you log in with Mobile BankID, pick Dogecoin, and pay with Swish. Safello is also the only crypto firm with Sweden as its home state in ESMA’s MiCA register. Everyone else serving Swedes, from Bitpanda to Kraken, does so through an EU passport.
The catch is the krona. Few platforms price DOGE in SEK, so most buyers either pay through Safello or convert to euros and buy DOGE/EUR elsewhere. Tax is straightforward but strict: 30% on gains, losses deductible at 70%, and every swap counts. For the country-neutral version of the process, see our guide to buying Dogecoin.
Is crypto legal in Sweden? Finansinspektionen and MiCA
Buying and holding DOGE is legal in Sweden. Finansinspektionen (FI) is the national competent authority under MiCA, the EU crypto regulation that has applied since 30 December 2024. Sweden gave existing providers nine months to get authorised, per ESMA’s list of grandfathering periods, so that window closed around 30 September 2025. Since then, only providers in ESMA’s register, Swedish or passported, may serve Swedish retail clients.
One home-grown provider is the fewest of any EU state with entries in the register, tied with Portugal. Compare that with Finland’s five or Germany’s 103. The upside for Swedes is that the market is not small at all: Bitpanda, Bitstamp, Coinbase, Kraken, Revolut, Trade Republic, Coinmotion and NorthCrypto all list Sweden in their passports.
Where to köpa Dogecoin: Safello and passported platforms
We checked DOGE availability and register entries on 14 October 2026. Coinbase, Revolut and Trade Republic are passported to Sweden too; Revolut offers DOGE in its app according to secondary sources, but we list only venues where we could see the DOGE market directly.
| Platform | Licence (home state) | Payment | DOGE evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Safello | Sweden (FI, 13 Oct 2025) | Swish, BankID login | Dedicated DOGE page |
| Bitpanda | Austria (FMA), passported | SEPA and more | DOGE quoted in SEK and EUR |
| Bitstamp | Luxembourg (CSSF), passported | SEPA | DOGE/EUR, DOGE/USD |
| Kraken | Ireland (CBI), passported | SEPA | XDG/EUR |
| NorthCrypto | Finland (FIN-FSA), passported | Bank transfer | DOGE on its coin list |
Safello published a dedicated Dogecoin page on 9 October 2026 with buy and sell links. Its authorisation from Finansinspektionen dates from 13 October 2025. Note that its passport column in the ESMA register is empty, so it is a Sweden-only provider. Bitpanda is the main alternative if you want a SEK price on screen; our Bitpanda review covers its broker premium. For a euro order book with a published DOGE withdrawal fee, read our Bitvavo review, and check inside the app that Bitvavo serves your Swedish account.

Swish and BankID: the Swedish buying flow
Swish is what makes Sweden different. Safello says it is the only Swedish crypto exchange that offers Swish, and in May 2025 it announced an agreement that adds recurring Swish payments, which suits anyone who wants to buy a fixed amount of DOGE every month. It has also paid out sales via Swish since January 2024, according to its press releases. Login runs on Mobile BankID, the same app you use for your bank.
In practice, buying DOGE on Safello takes two confirmations: one in BankID to log in, one in Swish to pay. That is about as short as a regulated crypto purchase gets anywhere in Europe. On other platforms you typically send euros or kronor by bank transfer, or pay by card at a higher cost; our page on buying DOGE with a card compares those fees.
Swish ready? Such fast, very DOGEUse an authorised platform and check the price in kronor before you pay.
Get some DOGETwo routes, side by side
Route one is the Safello route. You create an account with Mobile BankID, answer the standard know-your-customer questions, choose Dogecoin on the buy page, enter an amount in kronor and pay with Swish. If you want a monthly buy, the recurring Swish option handles it. When you sell, the payout can go back via Swish. Everything happens in kronor, so there is no separate currency conversion to track for your K4.
Route two is the EU route. You open an account with a passported platform, send money by bank transfer, and buy DOGE either at a SEK quote (Bitpanda) or on a euro market (Kraken, Bitstamp). This can be cheaper for larger orders on an order book, but you pay attention to two exchange rates: krona to euro, and euro to DOGE. Your K4 is filled in in kronor, so keep the SEK value of each trade on the day it happened.
Dogecoin price in SEK: why kronor pairs are rare
Searching for the “dogecoin price SEK”? Most crypto order books trade against euros or dollars. Bitpanda is the clear exception among our venues: its public ticker quotes DOGE in SEK alongside 11 other currencies, and showed about 0.818 kronor per DOGE on 14 October 2026. Coinmotion offers some SEK pairs, but none for DOGE when we checked its API.
Those are dated snapshots. The widget at the top of this page shows the live SEK price, and our Dogecoin calculator converts any amount. If you buy DOGE/EUR with kronor, remember the currency conversion is a cost too: check the rate your bank or platform uses, not just the trading fee.
Dogecoin skatt: 30%, K4 and the average cost method
Skatteverket’s crypto page puts it plainly: you pay 30% tax on your gain. If you make a loss, 70% of it is deductible. You report every disposal on form K4, section D, which covers other assets such as crypto.
Cost basis follows the average cost method (genomsnittsmetoden). Each time you buy DOGE, you recalculate the average price of everything you hold; when you sell, the gain is the sale price minus that average. The shortcut many share traders use, the 20% standard method, is not allowed for crypto. And swaps count: trading DOGE for another coin is treated as a sale of the DOGE and a purchase of the new coin.
A worked example: you buy 10,000 DOGE for 6,000 kronor and later another 10,000 for 10,000 kronor. Your average cost is 0.80 kronor per DOGE. Sell 5,000 DOGE for 5,000 kronor and the gain is 1,000 kronor, so 300 kronor in tax. Platform statements help, but the calculation is yours. This is a summary, not tax advice; Skatteverket’s page and its filing guidance are the authority.
Losses work the other way. Suppose a DOGE sale ends 2,000 kronor below your average cost: 70% of that, 1,400 kronor, can be deducted. That asymmetry is one more reason to keep the average-cost record current after every purchase, including small recurring Swish buys, because each one shifts the average slightly.

CEX.IO in Sweden
CEX.IO, a long-running exchange founded in 2013, is closed to new Swedish users for now. Its EU terms, last updated 1 July 2026, say it does not onboard new EU or EEA users and keeps existing accounts for withdrawals and account management only. The company has applied to Spain’s CNMV for MiCA authorisation and describes the application as under review; it was not in ESMA’s register on 14 October 2026. It also has no SEK pair for DOGE. Existing users can still withdraw. For new buyers, the authorised options above, or our exchange reviews, are the place to start.
Local tips for Swedish DOGE buyers
Withdrawing DOGE to self-custody? Use the native Dogecoin network and an address starting with D; our Dogecoin wallet guide explains hardware and mobile options. We found no source confirming crypto ATMs that sell DOGE in Sweden, so skip any “Dogecoin ATM” claims you see online unless the operator lists DOGE itself.
When you want kronor back, the guide to selling Dogecoin covers the route, and Safello’s Swish payouts make the last step quick. Neighbouring Finland has two home-grown providers that also passport into Sweden, as our Dogecoin in Finland page explains, and Austria’s guide shows how a flat 27.5% tax with automatic withholding works. All 17 markets are on the countries overview. Much choice, very lagom.
Questions people ask
Can I buy Dogecoin with Swish?+
Yes, on Safello. It says it is the only Swedish crypto exchange that offers Swish, including recurring payments, and it has a dedicated Dogecoin page with buy and sell links. Login uses Mobile BankID.
How much tax do I pay on Dogecoin in Sweden?+
Skatteverket taxes crypto gains at 30%. Losses are deductible at 70%. You report each disposal on form K4, section D, using the average cost method.
Is swapping DOGE for another coin taxable in Sweden?+
Yes. Skatteverket treats a crypto-to-crypto swap as both a sale and a purchase, so you calculate a gain or loss on the DOGE you gave up.
Can I use the 20% standard method for crypto?+
No. Skatteverket says the standard method is not allowed for crypto. You must use the average cost method (genomsnittsmetoden) based on what you actually paid.
Where can I see the Dogecoin price in kronor?+
Few platforms quote DOGE in SEK. Bitpanda does, at about 0.818 kronor on 14 October 2026; the widget on this page shows the live SEK price.
Is CEX.IO available in Sweden?+
Not for new users. CEX.IO does not onboard new EU or EEA users while its MiCA application with Spain’s CNMV is under review. Existing accounts are withdrawal-only.
