Buy Dogecoin in Poland for złoty, safely

Three presidential vetoes left Poland without its own crypto regulator, and its best-known exchange collapsed. Here is where Poles can still buy DOGE for PLN, how BLIK fits in and how the 19% PIT-38 tax works.

CEX.IO no longer onboards new EU/EEA users (existing accounts are withdrawal-only) while its MiCA application is pending. EU readers should use the MiCA-licensed local options covered on this page.

Quick answer

To buy Dogecoin in Poland with złoty, the cleanest route on 14 October 2026 was Kanga Exchange, which runs a live DOGE-PLN order book under a MiCA licence from the Bank of Latvia, or Bitpanda, which quotes DOGE directly in PLN under an Austrian licence. Coinbase, Kraken and Bitvavo also serve Poland with passported licences but trade DOGE against the euro. Avoid zondacrypto entirely. Gains are taxed at 19% and declared on PIT-38.

On that day CoinGecko put one DOGE at about zł0.3195, and Kanga’s best bid sat at roughly zł0.319. The widget above converts złoty to DOGE live. Poland is a small DOGE market in złoty terms: CoinGecko-tracked DOGE/PLN volume was only about $20,000 over 24 hours, almost all of it on Kanga. This page covers the legal limbo, the platforms, BLIK, tax and one cautionary tale. For the generic walkthrough, see how to buy Dogecoin.

Is Dogecoin legal in Poland?

Yes, DOGE is legal to buy, hold and sell in Poland. What Poland lacks is its own law putting the EU’s MiCA regulation into practice. The government’s crypto-asset market bill named the KNF, the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, as the supervisor for crypto firms. The bill never became law. President Karol Nawrocki vetoed it three times, and the Sejm failed to override him each time it tried.

  1. First veto

The President vetoes the crypto-asset market bill that would have made the KNF the MiCA supervisor.

  2. Second veto

A revised bill is vetoed again.

  3. Override fails

The Sejm gets 243 votes against the 263 needed to overturn the veto.

  4. Third veto

The override attempt that follows falls 25 votes short, according to Polish press.

  5. MiCA transition ends

Polish users are now served by CASPs licensed in other EU states.

What does that mean in practice? Since MiCA’s maximum transition expired on 1 July 2026, crypto services in the EU need an authorisation. Poland has no national competent authority to issue one, and ESMA’s register (dated 7 October 2026) lists no CASP with Poland as its home state. So Polish residents are served by CASPs licensed elsewhere in the EU that passport into Poland. Domestic firms had to look abroad too. Kanga, the main venue with a złoty DOGE market, obtained its MiCA licence through a Latvian company, SIA AlphaRoute, authorised by the Bank of Latvia on 18 June 2026.

We could not find a reliable update on the legislation after June 2026, so treat this as the position “as of the latest reports”. If Poland does pass a law, the KNF is the likely supervisor, and we will update this page.

Where to buy DOGE for PLN

We checked each platform’s public API or official page on 14 October 2026. Only two let you see DOGE directly in złoty; the rest make you convert PLN to euros first, which adds a currency spread on top of the trading fee.

Kanga is the only venue we found with a real DOGE-PLN order book, so you can place a limit order in złoty and avoid a euro conversion. Liquidity is thin compared with euro markets, so check the order book depth before a large order and consider splitting it. Our Kanga review has the details.

Bitpanda is a broker. Its public ticker shows DOGE priced in PLN alongside eleven other fiat currencies, and you buy at the quoted price with a premium of 0% to 2.49% built in. Coinbase trades DOGE against the euro on its exchange, but it reportedly accepts BLIK for direct purchases. Kraken lists Dogecoin under the ticker XDG against the euro only. Binance returned “Invalid symbol” for DOGE/PLN, and its entities are not in ESMA’s register. Bitvavo, the large Dutch exchange, is passported across the EEA and trades DOGE-EUR with a €5 minimum; see our exchange reviews for the full comparison.

The zondacrypto warning

For years zondacrypto, formerly BitBay, was the name most Poles associated with buying crypto in złoty. Today it should be avoided. The facts below come from regulators, courts and press reports. Most of them are allegations in open proceedings, and we describe them that way.

The firm never held a MiCA authorisation; it relied on an Estonian anti-money-laundering registration. Withdrawal problems were reported from around April 2026, and the collapse became part of the political debate over the vetoes. The lesson for DOGE buyers is simple. A familiar brand is not a licence. Check the ESMA register, keep only what you are actively trading on any exchange, and move long-term holdings to a wallet you control; our Dogecoin wallet guide shows how. If you are an affected customer, follow the official proceedings rather than anyone offering to “recover” your funds for a fee.

Buy Dogecoin with BLIK

BLIK is Poland’s favourite way to pay online, and many buyers search for a way to buy Dogecoin with BLIK. The honest answer is that BLIK support depends on the platform, and we could only confirm it from secondary sources. Polish comparison site jakdorobic.pl reports that BLIK works on Coinbase, at roughly 2.6% and only for direct purchases, as well as on OKX and Bybit EU. We could not confirm BLIK at Kanga or Bitpanda, so check their deposit screens. A standard PLN bank transfer works everywhere that accepts złoty.

Here is how the routes compare on cost. Buying zł1,000 of DOGE through a BLIK direct purchase at about 2.6% costs roughly zł26 in fees. Buying through Bitpanda costs anywhere from zł0 to zł24.90, depending on the premium shown in your trade summary. A złoty transfer to Kanga, followed by a limit order on the DOGE-PLN book, usually costs least, but you trade off speed and you need to read an order book. Card and wallet-payment costs across countries are compared in our guide to buying Dogecoin with a card.

Whichever route you choose, when you withdraw DOGE use the Dogecoin network, check that the address starts with D, and send a small test amount first. BEP-20 “DOGE” on BNB Chain is a wrapped token, not native Dogecoin.

Dogecoin tax in Poland: PIT-38

Poland’s crypto tax is refreshingly simple. According to the Ministry of Finance’s podatki.gov.pl, income from disposing of virtual currency for payment (odpłatne zbycie) is taxed at a flat 19%. Income means revenue minus documented costs, such as what you paid for the DOGE and the related fees. You declare it on the PIT-38 form.

19% of income
Income
Sale revenue minus documented costs
Form
PIT-38
Unused costs
Carry forward to the next year
Official guidance
podatki.gov.pl, checked 14 Oct 2026

Two examples show how it works. Say you buy 10,000 DOGE for zł3,195 and sell them later in the same year for zł4,000. Your income is zł805 and the tax is zł152.95. Now say you buy in December and don’t sell until the following year. Your zł3,195 of costs exceed your crypto revenue for the first year, so the excess carries forward and reduces the income on the following year’s PIT-38. That carry-forward rule is a genuine advantage over countries that let losses or costs expire.

A few points we could not confirm on the official page in this pass: the exact wording on crypto-to-crypto swaps (the guidance frames the taxable event as a disposal for money) and this year’s PIT-38 filing deadline. Ask a doradca podatkowy if your situation is unusual, and keep exports of every purchase, because undocumented costs can’t be deducted.

CEX.IO and Polish users

CEX.IO, a long-running global exchange operating since 2013, lists DOGE against USD, EUR, BTC and USDC but has no PLN pair. More importantly, it is closed to new Polish customers. Its European company, CEX.IO Europe S.L. in Madrid, updated its terms on 1 July 2026: it does not onboard new EU or EEA users, and existing accounts are limited to withdrawals and account management. Its MiCA application with Spain’s CNMV is under review, and it does not appear in ESMA’s register dated 7 October 2026.

If you already have DOGE there, withdraw it on the Dogecoin network to your own wallet or to a MiCA-authorised platform. The site’s buttons lead to CEX.IO because it serves many non-EU markets; from Poland, check availability first.

Our take

Our take

Poland is the EU’s regulatory odd one out, but buying DOGE there is still straightforward if you stick to MiCA-licensed venues. Kanga gives you a genuine złoty order book, Bitpanda gives you PLN pricing with broker convenience, and the big passported exchanges cover everything else in euros. The 19% PIT-38 tax with cost carry-forward is one of the friendlier regimes in our set. The zondacrypto collapse is the reminder that matters most: check licences, not logos.

Questions people ask

Is Dogecoin legal in Poland?+

Yes. Buying, holding and selling DOGE is legal. Poland has not passed its own MiCA law after three presidential vetoes, so Polish residents are served by crypto firms authorised in other EU countries that passport their MiCA licences into Poland.

Where can I buy Dogecoin for złoty?+

On 14 October 2026 Kanga Exchange ran a live DOGE-PLN order book, and Bitpanda quoted DOGE directly in PLN. Kanga holds a MiCA licence from the Bank of Latvia; Bitpanda’s comes from Austria’s FMA. Binance and Kraken had no DOGE/PLN pair.

Can I buy Dogecoin with BLIK?+

Reports say BLIK works for direct crypto purchases at Coinbase (around 2.6% fee), OKX and Bybit EU. We could not confirm BLIK at Kanga or Bitpanda, so check the deposit screen. A standard PLN bank transfer is the fallback.

How much tax do I pay on Dogecoin in Poland?+

Income from selling crypto for money is taxed at 19%, calculated as revenue minus documented costs, and declared on the PIT-38 form. Costs you could not use in one year carry forward to the next, according to podatki.gov.pl.

Is zondacrypto safe to use?+

No. Its operator’s Estonian licence was suspended in May 2026 and reportedly revoked in June, a Tallinn court reportedly declared the operator bankrupt in August, and Polish prosecutors are investigating. The site was unreachable when we checked on 14 October 2026.

Can I use CEX.IO in Poland?+

Not as a new customer. CEX.IO’s EU terms of 1 July 2026 say it does not onboard new EU or EEA users, existing accounts are withdrawal-only, and it has no PLN pair for DOGE.

DOGE for złoty, minus the drama

Use a MiCA-licensed venue, keep your PIT-38 records and stay well away from collapsed exchanges. Much careful, very wow.
