Quick answer
To buy Dogecoin in France, use a platform authorised under MiCA: the AMF-licensed French brands Coinhouse and Meria both have DOGE buy pages, and Kraken, Coinbase, Bitpanda and Bitvavo sell DOGE in euros under licences from other EU countries. Pay by SEPA transfer or Carte Bancaire. When you sell for euros, the gain is taxed at the 31.4% flat tax, unless your total crypto disposals for the year stay at or below €305.
On 14 October 2026 CoinGecko showed one DOGE at about €0.0731; the live box above converts euros to DOGE in real time. This guide covers the switch from PSAN to CASP, the platforms, a step-by-step buy with French payment methods, the tax rules and the forms you need. For the country-neutral version, see how to buy Dogecoin.
PSAN, CASP and Dogecoin
Dogecoin is legal in France. For several years the key acronym was PSAN, prestataire de services sur actifs numériques, the registration created by the PACTE law and run by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF). Many French crypto buyers learned to look for a “PSAN-registered” label, and many still search for one.
That label is now history. Under the EU’s MiCA regulation, the AMF authorises crypto-asset service providers, CASPs, called PSCA in French. France let existing PSANs keep operating during a transition period that ran until 1 July 2026. The AMF has reminded the market that the transition ended on 2 July and that firms providing services without authorisation risk two years in prison and a €30,000 fine under the Monetary and Financial Code.
In practice, that means a former PSAN without a MiCA licence can no longer serve you, however familiar its name. France has embraced the new regime: ESMA’s interim register, dated 7 October 2026, lists 36 CASPs with France as home state, second only to Germany’s 103. They include Coinhouse (7 May 2026), Paymium and Meria (both 22 June 2026), Bitstack (30 June 2025), Deskoin (28 April 2026) and SwissBorg’s French entity Blocknodes (5 March 2026).
One less obvious point: MiCA authorisations work across borders. Young Platform, the Italian exchange authorised by CONSOB on 30 June 2026, lists France alongside Italy in its ESMA entry. Before you sign up anywhere, look up the legal entity, not the app name, in the register and make sure France is in its host list.
French platforms that sell DOGE
Here is what we could confirm on 14 October 2026, from official pages and public APIs. The licence column comes from ESMA’s register.
| Platform | DOGE offer | Euro funding | MiCA licence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coinhouse | Official DOGE buy page, from €20 | Card or bank transfer | AMF, 7 May 2026 |
| Meria | DOGE buy page, 2.39% fee, €25 minimum | Free euro deposits | AMF, 22 Jun 2026 |
| Coinbase | DOGE-EUR, €0.84 minimum | Fee shown at checkout | CSSF (LU), passported |
| Kraken | XDG/EUR order book | Not checked by us | CBI (IE), passported |
| Bitpanda / Bitvavo | DOGE in EUR | Free SEPA; card fees vary | FMA (AT) / AFM (NL) |
| Paymium | DOGE not found; BTC/EUR only | n/a | AMF, 22 Jun 2026 |
Coinhouse has an official “Buy Dogecoin (DOGE)” page showing the DOGE/EUR price, with purchases from €20 and funding by card or bank transfer. We could not load the page directly, so its exact fee is not shown here. Meria publishes its terms plainly: a 2.39% buy fee, a €25 minimum and free euro deposits. Buying €500 of DOGE at Meria costs about €11.95 in fees. That is the price of a French-language, French-licensed service.
The passported exchanges are usually cheaper for regular buyers. Coinbase runs a DOGE-EUR market with a €0.84 minimum and lists two withdrawal networks, so choose the Dogecoin network for a normal wallet. Kraken lists Dogecoin under the older ticker XDG. Bitvavo charges 0.15% maker and 0.25% taker at entry level and 3.9 DOGE per withdrawal, while Bitpanda is a broker with a 0% to 2.49% premium. Paymium holds a CASP licence, but its public API exposes only BTC/EUR, so treat it as bitcoin-only. Full scorecards are on our exchange reviews page.
How to buy Dogecoin in France
France’s national card scheme is the Carte Bancaire (CB), and most French bank cards carry it alongside Visa or Mastercard. Cards are fast, but a SEPA transfer is usually the cheaper way to fund an account.
Choose an authorised platform
Pick one from the table and confirm its legal entity in the ESMA register, with France in the host list.
Open and verify your account
Expect an identity (KYC) check, which every EU CASP must run. Have your ID document ready.
Fund with SEPA or your CB card
A SEPA transfer is free at Meria, Bitvavo and Bitpanda. A card is instant but usually costs more; check the fee before you confirm.
Buy DOGE in euros
On an order book (Coinbase, Kraken, Bitvavo), a limit order sets your price. On a buy page (Coinhouse, Meria), the fee or spread is built in.
Withdraw to your wallet if you hold long term
Use the Dogecoin network and an address starting with D, and send a small test first.
Card buyers should read our guide to buying Dogecoin with a card, which compares card fees and cash-advance risks. For long-term holding, our Dogecoin wallet guide explains self-custody and the BEP-20 “DOGE” tokens you should not mistake for real Dogecoin.

Dogecoin tax in France
France taxes crypto gains when you dispose of them for euros, other legal tender, goods or services. Crypto-to-crypto swaps are deferred: swapping DOGE for another coin is not taxed at that moment. The default treatment is the flat tax, the prélèvement forfaitaire unique (PFU), at 31.4%. That is 12.8% income tax plus 18.6% social levies, the rate cited by impots.gouv for 2026. Reports say the 2026 social security financing law (LFSS) raised the CSG by 1.4 points, which pushed the PFU up from 30%.
The €305 rule is often misread. It is not a tax-free allowance on gains. It is a threshold on the total amount of your disposals in the year. Sell €300 worth of DOGE across the year and nothing is taxed. Sell €400 worth and the whole taxable gain is subject to the PFU, not just the part above €305.
Losses are limited too. A capital loss on digital assets can only offset digital-asset gains in the same year; it cannot be carried forward. If you made a loss on DOGE and a gain on another coin in the same year, net them. If you only made a loss, it is lost for tax purposes. Taxpayers can opt for the progressive income-tax scale instead of the PFU, but the option is global: it applies to all your investment income for the year, so run the numbers first.
What to declare each spring
Three forms matter for DOGE holders. The details are on the impots.gouv page listed in the sources below.
- Form 2086
- Calculates the gain or loss on each taxable disposal of digital assets
- Form 2042-C
- Carries the total to your return (boxes 3AN for gains, 3BN for losses)
- Box 3CN
- Opts for the progressive scale instead of the PFU
- Form 3916-bis
- Declares each crypto account held with a platform based outside France
The last form catches people out. Bitvavo, Kraken, Coinbase and Bitpanda are all foreign-based, so an account with any of them must be declared on 3916-bis, even if you never sold anything. Keep a full export of your purchases, because form 2086 needs your acquisition costs to compute the gain.
CEX.IO and French users
CEX.IO, a long-running global exchange operating since 2013, lists DOGE against USD, EUR, BTC and USDC, but it is closed to new customers in France. Its European entity, CEX.IO Europe S.L. in Madrid, updated its terms on 1 July 2026 to say it does not onboard new EU or EEA users, and that existing accounts remain available only for withdrawals and account management. Its MiCA application with Spain’s CNMV is described on its own legal page as under review, and it is not in ESMA’s register dated 7 October 2026.
If you hold DOGE there, withdraw it on the Dogecoin network to your own wallet or to an authorised platform. And remember 3916-bis: a CEX.IO account is a foreign account too. The site’s buttons lead to CEX.IO because it serves many non-EU countries; from France, check availability before you try to sign up.

Looking at DOGE from outside the EU?CEX.IO serves many non-EU markets but is not taking new EU users while its MiCA licence is pending. Check availability in your country first.
See DOGE optionsOur take
France has one of the most crowded and most supervised crypto markets in the EU. For DOGE, the choice is between French-licensed convenience (Coinhouse, Meria) and cheaper passported order books (Coinbase, Kraken, Bitvavo). The tax side is the real work: 31.4% on gains, a €305 proceeds threshold, no loss carry-forward and a 3916-bis line for every foreign account. Keep your exports tidy and spring will be easy. France is not in the top 20 of Chainalysis’s 2025 adoption index, but on paperwork it is world-class.

Questions people ask
Is Dogecoin legal in France?+
Yes. Buying, holding and selling DOGE is legal. Since the MiCA transition ended on 1 July 2026, only crypto firms authorised as CASPs (PSCA in French), by the AMF or another EU regulator, may serve French residents.
Do I still need a PSAN-registered platform?+
No longer. The PSAN registration from the PACTE law has been replaced by MiCA authorisation. A former PSAN that has not obtained a CASP licence can no longer serve you; the AMF says unauthorised providers risk up to two years in prison and a €30,000 fine.
Where can I buy Dogecoin in France?+
Coinhouse and Meria, both AMF-authorised, have official DOGE buy pages. Kraken, Coinbase, Bitpanda and Bitvavo also sell DOGE in euros to French users under MiCA licences from other EU countries.
How is Dogecoin taxed in France?+
Gains on selling DOGE for euros or goods are subject to the flat tax (PFU) of 31.4%, made up of 12.8% income tax and 18.6% social levies, the rate cited by impots.gouv for 2026. You can opt for the progressive income-tax scale instead.
Is there a tax-free amount for crypto in France?+
Yes, but it is based on proceeds, not gains. If the total of your crypto disposals for euros or goods is €305 or less in a year, they are exempt. Above that, the whole taxable gain is subject to tax.
Do I have to declare a foreign crypto account?+
Yes. Accounts held with platforms based outside France must be reported on form 3916-bis, in addition to reporting gains on forms 2086 and 2042-C.
Can I sign up for CEX.IO in France?+
No. CEX.IO’s EU terms of 1 July 2026 say it does not onboard new EU or EEA users, and existing accounts are withdrawal-only while its MiCA application with Spain’s CNMV is under review.
