Quick answer
If you want to buy Dogecoin in Italy, the short list is Young Platform, the Turin company that CONSOB authorised under MiCA on 30 June 2026, plus a few EU-licensed exchanges that passport their licences into Italy: Bitvavo, Bitpanda, Kraken and Coinbase. All of them sell DOGE against the euro. Fund your account with a SEPA transfer where you can, since it is usually free, use a card only when speed matters, and keep a record of every buy. From 2026, Italian crypto gains are taxed at 33%.
On 14 October 2026 CoinGecko put one DOGE at about €0.0731. The box at the top of this page shows the live euro price and how many coins €50, €100 or €500 would buy. The rest of this guide covers who supervises crypto in Italy, which apps actually list DOGE, what the tax change means for you, and why one long-running global exchange is currently closed to Italian newcomers. For the country-neutral version of the process, see our step-by-step guide to buying Dogecoin.
Is Dogecoin legal in Italy?
Yes. Owning, buying and selling Dogecoin is legal in Italy. What changed in the last two years is who may sell it to you. Before MiCA, any crypto firm serving Italians had to be on the register kept by the OAM, the Organismo Agenti e Mediatori. That register was an anti-money-laundering check, not a licence. It recorded who a firm was. It said nothing about whether the firm was well run.
The EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) replaced that system, and in Italy two bodies share the job: CONSOB, the markets watchdog, and the Banca d’Italia. Italy gave OAM-registered firms a transition period to 30 December 2025, after Decree-Law 95/2025 added six months. Firms that had applied for authorisation by the end of 2025 could carry on until 30 June 2026 at the latest. That was the hard stop.
On 30 June 2026 CONSOB and the Banca d’Italia issued a joint release. Eight crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) had been authorised: CheckSig, Conio, CryptoSmart, Hercle, Hodlie, Olliv Italia, RIV-Digital and Young Platform. Banca Sella had also notified as a bank, which made nine entities in total. Every other operator had to wind down its Italian business.
Nine is a small number. On ESMA’s interim register, dated 7 October 2026, Germany has 103 home-licensed CASPs and France has 36. But Italians are not limited to the nine. A CASP authorised anywhere in the EU can passport its services into Italy, and that is how Bitvavo (Dutch AFM), Bitpanda (Austrian FMA), Kraken (Central Bank of Ireland) and Coinbase (Luxembourg’s CSSF) legally serve Italian customers.
Before you sign up anywhere, look up the legal entity, not the app’s brand name, in the ESMA register and check that Italy appears among its host countries. If a platform relied on the old OAM registration and is not on the MiCA list today, it should not be serving you.
Where to buy DOGE in euros
These are the platforms where we could confirm a Dogecoin market in euros on 14 October 2026, checked through their public APIs or official pages. Fees are the ones each platform publishes for euro deposits; trading fees are covered in the paragraphs below.
| Platform | DOGE market | Euro funding | MiCA licence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Young Platform | DOGE/EUR in the app, DOGE/USDT | Free bank transfer; card 2.2% + €0.25; Bancomat Pay | CONSOB (IT), 30 Jun 2026 |
| Bitvavo | DOGE-EUR order book, €5 minimum | Free SEPA; card 1% | AFM (NL), passported |
| Bitpanda | DOGE quoted in EUR (broker) | Free SEPA; PayPal 1.49% | FMA (AT), passported |
| Kraken | XDG/EUR order book | Not checked by us | CBI (IE), passported |
| Coinbase | DOGE-EUR, €0.84 minimum | Fee shown at checkout | CSSF (LU), passported |
| Conio, CryptoSmart | DOGE not confirmed | n/a | CONSOB (IT) |
Young Platform is the only Italian-licensed name in that table. Its app works like a broker: you get a five-second firm quote with a spread built in, plus a commission taken from the amount you enter. Neither figure is published per coin. The Pro order book charges 0.2% for makers and takers. Bank transfers are free (instant from Italian accounts, €20 minimum), card deposits cost 2.2% + €0.25, and euro withdrawals cost €1.99. Its blog also lists Bancomat Pay, the national bank-app payment system, as a deposit method that was free until 9 January 2026. We could not find today’s fee, so check the deposit screen before you use it.
Bitvavo had the deepest euro DOGE order book on CoinGecko on the day we checked, at about $1.56 million in 24-hour volume. Entry-level fees are 0.15% maker and 0.25% taker, the minimum order is €5, and a DOGE withdrawal costs 3.9 DOGE. Bitpanda is a broker with a premium of 0% to 2.49% shown in the trade summary. Kraken lists Dogecoin under the ticker XDG, which is the same coin under an older code. Coinbase offers DOGE-EUR but lists two withdrawal networks, so always pick the Dogecoin network when you send to a normal DOGE wallet.
Conio and CryptoSmart are Italian CASPs, but their offers appear to focus on Bitcoin and Ether, and we could not confirm DOGE on either. For full scorecards, open our Dogecoin exchange reviews, starting with Bitvavo and Bitpanda.
How to buy Dogecoin in Italy
The process is the same on every MiCA platform. The choices that cost or save you money are the deposit method and whether you buy through a quick-buy screen or an order book.
Pick a MiCA-authorised platform
Choose one from the table above and confirm its legal entity in the ESMA register, with Italy in the host-country list.
Verify your identity
Every EU CASP must run KYC checks. Have an ID document ready; approval is usually quick but can take longer at busy times.
Deposit euros
A SEPA transfer is free at Young Platform, Bitvavo and Bitpanda. Cards are faster but cost 2.2% + €0.25 at Young Platform and 1% at Bitvavo.
Buy DOGE
On an order book, a limit order lets you set your price. On a quick-buy screen the spread is built into the quote, so compare the DOGE you receive, not the headline price.
Withdraw to your own wallet (optional)
Use the Dogecoin network; native addresses start with D. Bitvavo charges 3.9 DOGE per withdrawal.
A worked example shows why the funding method matters. Put €100 into Young Platform by card and the deposit fee is 2.2% of €100 plus €0.25, so €2.45, leaving €97.55 to spend. Send the same €100 by bank transfer and the full €100 arrives. At Bitvavo, a €100 card deposit costs €1, and a market order on the remaining €99 costs about €0.25 at the 0.25% taker rate. Small numbers, but they compound if you buy every month. Our guide to buying Dogecoin with a card compares card costs across markets.
If you plan to hold for a long time, move your coins to a wallet you control. Our Dogecoin wallet guide explains seed phrases and address formats, and warns about the BEP-20 “DOGE” tokens on BNB Chain, which are not native Dogecoin.

Dogecoin tax in Italy
This is where Italy changed the most. The 2025 budget law (Law 207/2024) raised the tax on crypto-asset gains from 26% to 33% for gains realised from 1 January 2026, whatever the purchase date. If you bought DOGE in 2021 and sell it in 2026, the 33% rate applies to the gain. The same law abolished the €2,000 tax-free threshold from 2025, so there is no longer a small-gains allowance.
The 2026 budget law (Law 199/2025) added one exception: euro e-money tokens, the MiCA category for euro stablecoins, stay at 26%. Dogecoin is not an e-money token, so DOGE gains fall in the 33% bucket.
Here is a simple example, before any fees. You buy 10,000 DOGE for €731 and later sell them for €1,000. The gain is €269. At 33% the tax is €88.77; under the old 26% rate it would have been €69.94. On a small trade the difference is a few euros. On a large one it adds up quickly.
One honest caveat about sources. We found the 33% rate, the abolished threshold and the 26% carve-out in Italian tax press (Fiscal Focus and Money.it), and they agree with one another. We did not fetch a primary page from the Agenzia delle Entrate. Before you file, confirm with a commercialista or a CAF how to report your DOGE. Download a full CSV of your trades from every platform at the end of each year, because rebuilding a trade history later is miserable.
CEX.IO and Italian residents
CEX.IO is a long-running global exchange, founded in 2013, that lists DOGE against the US dollar, euro, bitcoin and USDC. For Italian residents it is not an option right now. Its European company, CEX.IO Europe S.L. in Madrid, updated its terms on 1 July 2026 to say that it does not onboard new EU or EEA users. Existing accounts are limited to withdrawals and account management. Its application for MiCA authorisation with Spain’s CNMV is described on its own legal page as under review, and the company does not appear in ESMA’s register (file dated 7 October 2026).
If you already hold DOGE there, you can still withdraw it to your own wallet or to an Italian-authorised platform. Use the Dogecoin network and send a small test amount first. The buttons on this site lead to CEX.IO because it serves many non-EU markets, so if you are in Italy, check availability before you try to sign up. We will update this page if the CNMV decides.
Reading from outside the EU?CEX.IO sells DOGE in many non-EU markets. It is not onboarding new EU users while its MiCA application is pending, so check availability in your country first.

Crypto ATMs. Olliv Italia S.r.l., the Italian company behind the CoinFlip brand, is a CONSOB-authorised CASP, entered in ESMA’s register on 4 June 2026. CoinFlip says it operates machines in Italy. However, the token page we checked listed only Bitcoin, Ether and Litecoin, so we cannot confirm that Italian CoinFlip machines sell DOGE. Ask before you walk in with cash.
Satispay. People search for ways to buy Dogecoin with Satispay, but we could not confirm any crypto platform that accepts it as a deposit method. Bancomat Pay at Young Platform, a SEPA transfer or a card are the routes we could verify.
Scams. The end of the transition is a useful filter. If someone in a Telegram group or a WhatsApp chat pushes you towards a DOGE “trading desk” that is not in the ESMA register, walk away. Fake giveaways and cloned exchange apps are covered in our guide to Dogecoin scams.
For context: Italy did not make the top 20 of Chainalysis’s 2025 Global Crypto Adoption Index, and among the seven currencies we measured on CoinGecko that day, the euro came third for DOGE trading volume, behind the US dollar and the Turkish lira. When you decide to cash out, our guide to selling Dogecoin covers withdrawals to an Italian IBAN.
Our take
Italy is now a tidy, if expensive, place to hold DOGE. The choice of platforms is clear: one Italian CASP that lists DOGE (Young Platform) plus well-known passported exchanges. The tax bill is one of the highest in our EU set. If you trade often, an order book such as Bitvavo’s or Young Platform Pro keeps costs down. If you buy rarely, the convenience of an Italian app may be worth a slightly wider spread. Either way, fund by bank transfer, export your trades and treat DOGE as the volatile meme coin it is.

Questions people ask
Is Dogecoin legal in Italy?+
Yes. Buying, holding and selling DOGE is legal. Since the MiCA transition closed on 30 June 2026, only firms authorised by CONSOB and the Banca d’Italia, or CASPs passported from another EU country, may offer crypto services to Italian residents.
Where can I buy Dogecoin in Italy?+
On 14 October 2026 we confirmed DOGE/EUR markets at Young Platform (authorised by CONSOB), Bitvavo, Bitpanda, Kraken and Coinbase, all of which hold MiCA licences valid in Italy. Check the legal entity in the ESMA register before you sign up.
How much tax do I pay on Dogecoin gains in Italy?+
Crypto gains realised from 1 January 2026 are taxed at 33%, up from 26%, under the 2025 budget law (Law 207/2024). The rate applies whatever your purchase date. Only euro e-money tokens stay at 26%; DOGE is not one of them.
Is there still a €2,000 tax-free allowance on crypto in Italy?+
No. The €2,000 threshold was abolished from 2025, so every realised DOGE gain is taxable. Keep exports of all your trades so you can work out the gain for your tax return.
Can I buy Dogecoin with Satispay or Bancomat Pay?+
Young Platform lists Bancomat Pay as a deposit method; check its current fee in the app. We could not confirm any crypto platform that accepts Satispay, so a SEPA transfer or a card is the safer bet.
Can I use CEX.IO in Italy?+
Not as a new customer. CEX.IO’s EU terms of 1 July 2026 say it does not onboard new EU or EEA users, and existing accounts are withdrawal-only while its MiCA application with Spain’s CNMV is under review.
